Hi, my name is Tracey Carter. I have enjoyed over 30+ years starting small businesses and growing them. I have worn the many hats and encountered the many challenges, I have enjoyed the rush that comes with the constantly-changing needs inherent to small business. I’ve stumbled over many fires and pain points but, solving them, that’s where it’s at for me.
The fear, the struggles and the successes are all equally intense for an entrepreneur but, I wouldn’t change one thing because nothing, absolutely nothing, beats the feeling of the days when you realize, “I did it”!
Sometimes, I needed a fresh perspective, a mentor, a shoulder, a cheerleader… As much as I sometimes felt like I was alone, looking back, I know I was wrong. I was not alone. You are not alone.
Entrepreneurs (and managers) take their own paths. Despite the reasons one becomes an entrepreneur, there are some other similar labels that we embrace:
Risk Taker – Rule Breaker – Resourceful – Disciplined – and others!
We do not always want to follow the path that other “visionaries” took. When someone else created rules, they set those for themselves, based on what worked for them. This is why there are so many theories, methods, systems, and yes, RULES.
Occasionally, we reach out, looking for advice or help when a problem feels overwhelming or we simply don’t feel we have the time to address the plethora issues that a growing business encounters. Of course, why wouldn’t we look to those who came before us? I learned long ago, that following the exact footsteps or path of another (albeit successful) entrepreneur or manager only led to frustration.
I believe the lessons successful entrepreneurs and managers learned and the methods they used and choose to share is useful information, but only when we use them to allow ourselves to create our own methods, methods that work within each of our unique businesses and company cultures, will be truly be happy Risk Takers, Rule Breakers…. Entrepreneurs.
